Nikki has hired a friend of a friend to rob her house, taking jewelry worth a small fortune so that she can make an insurance claim. She chats to the thief as the video begins, explaining how everything will work. He is to trash the house and steal her valuables, then meet up in a week and hand them back, in exchange for the second half of his payment. Nikki wants him to tie her up properly so that she can't escape; she wants this to look completely convincing. Even her boyfriend doesn't know about her little scheme, and she expects that he will be the one to find her this evening, then he will call the police and set things in motion, playing his part convincingly because he won't be in on it. When the thief has finished tying Nikki up, he takes advantage of her a little, and even suggests that he might just keep her jewelry and sell it himself, as well as taking away half the money for the job. Nikki protests but is now helpless. She can't admit to being in on this scheme or she will end up in prison. She's totally screwed. And just when she thinks things can't possibly get any worse, her boyfriend calls to say he is tied up and work and won't make it over to see her this evening.
