Unknown to her, Rachel is about to start a job where the former holder of that position was unjustly fired. As she climbs into her car to go to work, she is grabbed from behind and subdued with a chemical-soaked cloth. When she wakes, she finds herself in a strange room, secured to a bed with plastic cuffs around her wrists and ankles. She is initially alone in the room and completely confused, and completely frightened. What on earth is going on? Soon, a man enters and sits down beside her, informing her that she took his job, and he basically wants it back. He says he has decided to keep her prisoner so that she can't go in to work or call with an explanation as to why she is not there. He suggests that after a week or so without any word, the company will fire her, and maybe, just maybe, he will be able to get his old job back, on the grounds that older people are nor dependable that the young. Rachel is appalled by this news and begs the man to let her go, but he has made up his mind. He has also made up his mind that he wants to have a lot of fun with her during her long stay, and that begins with him finding a pair of large, scrap scissors and cutting off all of Rachel's clothes, leaving her tied up on the bed completely naked. How humiliating. How vulnerable this makes her. He clearly enjoys stripping her, and then to make sure she does not call for help in the event that a delivery service should arrive at the door, he gags her with some particularly sticky duct tape, reducing her cries to barely more than a muted whimper.
