The original idea was for Lily to escape and get recaptured, but as it turned out, she could not free herself from the hogtie. We watch her rolling around on the floor and struggling with the ropes (actually, clothesline which is very unforgiving), and failing to escape. She is tape gagged throughout, something else she cannot remove. It just wasn't Lily's day.
